Founded in 1988 as one of the first hospitality training institutions in San Diego, SDHI is passionately dedicated to providing the highest standard of education to all students in preparation for employment in the hospitality industry.
At SDHI, students are given the opportunity to increase their knowledge, refine their skills, learn self-discipline, grow in confidence, and develop a professional attitude. Our students have what it takes to meet the employer's expectations in the hospitality industry.
SDHI’s training consists of 280 hours of hands-on classroom and lab work in a simulated work environment, and tours of restaurants and hotels. Training also includes study books, resume writing, and placement assistance.
SDHI works with a number of programs to assist veterans, individuals who are unemployed or underemployed, disabled, or who are CalWORKs participants receive financial aid for their training.
Our Mission is to assist industry employers with their staffing needs, diversify the workplace, and make viable employment opportunities available to qualified individuals to enter the hospitality field.

SDHI provides training for hotels and restaurants. Hotel Front Office includes: Front desk agents, reservationists, PBX operators, night auditor, concierge, and bell persons. Our students seeking to enter the food service industry are trained in food and beverage serving techniques, salesmanship, effective communication, customer service, and health and safety procedures in food service.
SDHI is an active member of the San Diego County Hotel- Motel Association. Many of the members of the association are long time partners, with some of our graduates now in management positions.
